Ourika Valley from Marrakech

The Ourika Valley excursion is a relaxing escape for both Moroccans and foreigners who want to spend a pleasant day away from the heat and bustle of Marrakech.

 The Ourika Valley stretches across the first foothills of the High Atlas Mountains, with Berber villages and traditional houses along the river. Despite being so close to Marrakech, this beautiful green valley is still one of the prettiest and most attractive valleys in Morocco.

 On the way we will pass through the village of T’nin Ourika, the commercial center of the valley, where a weekly souk is held every Monday for people from the surrounding villages to sell their goods, buy everything they need for the week and catch up on the latest news. We will continue through the mountains, where hundreds of magnificent Berber villages cling to the slopes of the Atlas.

 We will follow the road to the last village, Setti Fatma, where we will leave our vehicle to climb to the first waterfall, as the other six are difficult to reach. On the way up we will pass food stalls, small cafés and Berber ‘fridges’ made with streams of cold water flowing down from the falls. After visiting the waterfall, we will have lunch at one of the cafés or restaurants by the river. Return to Marrakech.
