Tour itinerary
Day 01: Arrival in Tangier – night in Chefchaouen
Our guide will meet you at the scheduled time at Tangier airport and we will begin our route to Chefchaouen, or Chaouen as many call it, located in the only intercontinental natural park declared a biosphere reserve.
It is a village perched on the mountain, painted white and blue, home to wise, friendly and respectful people, offering visitors beautiful townscapes, fine local crafts and a peace and serenity that are hard to find nowadays. Transfer to the riad to rest; overnight at the riad.
Day 02: Chefchaouen – Fez
Breakfast at our riad in Chefchaouen, then a free morning to enjoy the beauty of the blue town, its medina, its streets, its people and its tranquility. Chefchaouen is a mountain town in the heart of the Rif, known for its Andalusian architecture of whitewashed houses in white and indigo blue. Visit the medina to discover its historic and cultural heritage and enjoy its light, its streets, its picturesque Uta el Hammam square, the Ras el Maa waterfall and, of course, its colorful craft shops.
Perhaps have mint tea on a café terrace watching people come and go, or get lost in the medina and chat with the locals. After lunch in the town, we leave for Fez, the religious capital of Morocco.
After a drive of about 3 hours, with several stops to enjoy the beautiful landscapes, we arrive in the late afternoon/evening at our riad in Fez, where you can enjoy a walk around «Bab Boujloud» square and its atmosphere. Dinner and overnight at the riad.
Day 03: Fez – guided tour of Fez – night in Marrakech
After breakfast at our riad, we begin our visit of the old town of Fez and its medina, the largest and most famous medina in the Arab world. Entering through Bab Boujloud, the famous gate, we head to Dar Batha, a former Hispano-Moorish palace that now houses a museum of folk art.
We continue with a visit to the Bou Inania madrasa, the Koranic school of Fez, where young people studied the Koran around a wonderful courtyard. The tour continues through the Chouara tannery to discover the fascinating process of treating the hides, from the first cleaning to dyeing with the most beautiful natural dyes. Then we will pass the Qaraouiyine mosque, founded in the 9th century by a woman.
The city tour ends at Seffarine square, where the coppersmiths fill the square and surrounding streets. In the afternoon, after lunch in the medina, we leave for Marrakech, with a few stops along the way. Arrival in Marrakech in the evening and transfer to the riad to rest.
Day 04: Marrakech – guided tour of Marrakech
After breakfast at our riad in Marrakech, we will have a full day in the city. We begin our guided tour at the Bahia Palace, built in the late 19th century with the intention of being the largest palace of its time. Then we continue to the Koutoubia Mosque, notable for its 66-meter minaret (77 meters according to other sources), the tallest building in the city.
The minaret is the symbol and landmark of the city and, without a doubt, its most representative monument. Then we continue our visit through the great souks of Marrakech. In the afternoon, you can visit the Majorelle Garden and then enjoy free time to soak up the local atmosphere in Marrakech’s main square, «Jemaa el-Fna». Overnight at the riad.
Day 05: Marrakech – Casablanca – Tangier Airport
After breakfast at our riad in Marrakech, we set off towards Casablanca, the largest and most populated city in the country, also known as the economic capital of Morocco. In Casablanca we will visit the great Hassan II Mosque, a masterpiece and one of the largest mosques in Africa, with a minaret over 200 meters high.
