Description

The Tetouan excursion from Tangier takes you in just an hour to «the white dove», a city of whitewashed houses at the foot of the Rif. Its medina, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, was rebuilt by Andalusians expelled from Granada and keeps a very authentic atmosphere, with craftsmen’s souks and few tourists. You will also see the Ensanche from the Spanish protectorate period and Hassan II square.

Half a day in Tetouan, the white dove

We pick you up at your hotel or at the port of Tangier and in about an hour we reach Tetouan. We will start at Hassan II square, with the Royal Palace, and stroll through the Ensanche, the district built during the Spanish protectorate, with its white buildings, balconies and modernist facades. Then we will enter the medina through the Bab el Okla gate to explore its alleys and the souks of blacksmiths, weavers, tanners and spice sellers, in one of the best-preserved and least touristy medinas in Morocco. We will visit the School of Arts and Crafts, where zellige, wood carving and embroidery are taught. After free time for lunch, return to Tangier in the afternoon.
