Description

This excursion from Tangier follows the most beautiful Atlantic coast in northern Morocco. You will visit Cape Spartel, where the Mediterranean meets the Atlantic, the Caves of Hercules, with their famous opening to the sea shaped like a map of Africa, and Asilah, a small coastal town of white houses and colorful murals surrounded by Portuguese ramparts. You can add a camel ride on the beach.

The Atlantic coast from Tangier to Asilah

We pick you up at your hotel in Tangier in the morning and drive up through the residential Mountain district to Cape Spartel, with its lighthouse and spectacular views over the point where the Mediterranean meets the Atlantic. A few kilometers away we will visit the Caves of Hercules, legendary resting place of the hero, with their opening to the ocean shaped like a map of Africa. Next to Achakar beach you can take a camel ride if you wish. Then we will drive down the coast to Asilah, about 45 minutes away, to stroll through its medina of white houses with blue doors, its murals painted by artists from all over the world and its Portuguese ramparts facing the sea. Free time for a fresh fish lunch at the port and return to Tangier in the afternoon.
